Cole's Room

Here's our finished nursery! The background color on the page is the closest approximation of the wall color I could manage on the web. The pictures are shown clockwise around the room.

We chose the John Lennon Musical Parade theme,
so a lot of the stuff in the room is part of that collection.

This is the view as you walk into the room.

My mom and I painted the walls and most of the trim. Chris and I painted the baseboards and put up the border. Chris and my dad installed the laminate floor.

The neat little white shelf came from Target. I took the pink and purple drawers out (because they're too feminine for a little boy) and just use those slots without the drawer parts. I put the shelf on the wall next to the dresser so I could hang pajamas, towels, jackets, etc. on it.

The knobs on the closet are actually John Lennon drawer pulls.

My mom bought the letters on the wall, along with the ceramic cube (it's a coin bank) and the tins (they hold plaster to put Cole's handprint in on his first five birthdays.) The dishes are my Peter Rabbit set from when I was little.

Chris's dad bought us the dresser, and my aunt bought the lamp.

Most of the books and the lion bank on the bottom shelf are mine from when I was a kid. I hope Cole enjoys them as much as I did! Cole's baby book, some other baby-related books and the quilt my grandmother made him are also on the shelves.

My mom bought us the glider and ottoman and the rug.

Chris's cousin made the quilt that's hanging on the chair. It has the John Lennon stuff around the edges and in the letters of Cole's name.

The shelf above the crib goes all the way across the wall and holds a few of my 100+ Breyer horses and some of my old stuffed animals (including one from Germany and one from Indonesia). They're more for decoration than to play with since they're so old. That's why all this stuff is up out of reach.

My dad and stepmom bought us the crib and bedding for Christmas. Her parents bought the mobile.

I had to put some of Cole's bigger toys in his room, even though it's really small, because there just isn't room for them in the living room!

We got most of the stuff either as gifts or with gift certificates. I already had the floor lamp and most of the shelving. What we bought (including the flooring, border and paint) cost about $700.

The purple rhino you can just see the head of is part of the John Lennon collection. The hippo is named Henry. He was Cole's first stuffed animal.

And for those of you dying to see what I looked like pregnant, here ya go:
This was me at 23 weeks, taken January 13.
This was at 31 weeks, March 12.
This was April 17, two weeks before Cole was born
(he was 10 days early).
